Help is here... Any hour of the day...

Many people during their lifetime experience depression or other mental health problems that interfere with their ability to function and enjoy life. When these situations occur, the most common problem is identifying why and what you are feeling. Sometimes it's impossible to figure it out! You may be too close to the situation, or the problem may stem from a chemical imbalance over which you have no control.

The Psychiatric Institute of Washington's Comprehensive Clinical Assessment Center (CCAC) can help by providing insight into your problem and offering treatment options. Our clinical assessment is a free, confidential 24-hour service. We are staffed by trained clinicians who will work with you to determine the most appropriate treatment recommendation.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. Who does the Clinical Assessment Center help?

CCAC can assist in finding the most appropriate help.

Q. What can I expect in an assessment?
A. A counselor will talk with you privately to discuss the difficulties you are experiencing. Your discussion will not involve any type of therapy or treatment. The assessment is simply a means of evaluating your situation.

Q. How can I schedule my free assessment?
A. To schedule a free assessment, call (202) 885-5610 or toll free (800) 369-2273. Anyone can call to arrange an assessment; a professional referral is not required. Our staff is available to schedule assessments 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Q. If I use the service, do I have to receive treatment?
A. No. Having an assessment in no way obligates you to any form of treatment. The assessment and referral counselor will use the information you provide to recommend a treatment approach.

Q. To whom will I be referred?
A. If needed, individuals are referred to some form of counseling, treatment or support group. The CCAC staff works closely with other area providers such as psychiatrist, local mental health agencies and private practice therapists.

The CCAC counselor will inquire about your problem and use that information to determine the treatment option that is most appropriate, considering your clinical needs and financial resources.

Q. Will CCAC follow-up with my doctor?
A. If your physician refers you, a CCAC counselor, with your permission, will promptly contact your physician with information concerning your assessment.
